Live and Let Live

So I do this thing. I try to help people. Maybe you’d call it empathy. Maybe not. But the reality is, I do want to help. All this writing I’ve done stems from my own lessons and mistakes I’ve learned from along the way. And sometimes, I just want to shake people and be like, ‘Here! Look! I can help you! That was me! Here’s what I learned. Use my lessons to help yourself. Read my blog. Read this book. It will change your life. It will fix you!’

(If you are a person who has received this, without asking for it? My apologies... sometimes I can’t help it when I just love you so much!)

But the reality is: people will change when they want to change. And only then. I can’t, and shouldn’t, force them to, as much as I sometimes want to! And in all honesty, that’s how it should be. Just like I’ve gone through the shitty life lessons to get where I’m at, everyone has to do the same. Yeah, the inspirational quotes, blogs, and books most definitely helped along the way, but I truly don’t think the lessons I’ve learned would mean as much had I not experienced them firsthand. If I’d had people saying, ‘Oh, I did that once, let me stop you right there...’ it wouldn’t have worked. I had to experience the lowest of lows, and finally decide on my own terms to change. Not because somebody else said I should. Or forced me to change. But because I was sick of my own shit. And everyone deserves that same experience.

And honestly, it that makes it that much better when you do come out on top. That person I was before... the parts I didn’t love? I figured her out. All by myself. I can do freaking anything if I can do that. Plus, this evolved me is way more authentic and real than had I just gone through the actions per the request of somebody else.

So do your best. Learn your life lessons. Change if and when you’re ready. Live, and let others live, too. The more you learn, the more you grow. And growth is so Luxuriously Dope.
